She’s a girl!

It's a...

…girl!

Everything checked out great, although because of baby’s position we weren’t able to get any good looks at the heart. That means that next month we’ll be able to sneak in another ultrasound. No complaints from us!

Three white lines between the legs = Vag.

Here’s a view of her face (aka skeletal goblin baby face)…but it’s still cute. The circle to the left is her abdomen and the little white blur above that is a fist.

Once we got the news, we took the opportunity to go get started on registering. What would be a better gift for our unborn baby girl than…

What can we say…we’re traditionalists.

A quick moment...

I realize I’ve neglected this for a few weeks, but I haven’t had a whole lot to report.

I had blood taken for our quad screen which came back all normal, so our chances of having any of the main chromosomal abnormalities is very low. Hooray!

I’ve also started feeling kicks on a somewhat regular basis - meaning at least once a day for the last 3-4 days. Hopefully it won’t be long before Brian can feel them from the outside.

Beyond that I’ve been feeling mostly normal. I’ve had nagging back pain and no luck getting comfortable enough to sleep through the night, but I’m eating and gaining weight (finally!) so I suppose I can’t complain.

The Big News is coming up soon… stay tuned!

Here we are at 19 wk and 5 days…basically halfway done and less than a week away from knowing the gender…

Getting easier.

15 weeks and a day.

I’m starting to get my energy back; I don’t have to sleep for 5 hours a night or have a nap every 4 hours to make it through the day. I’m also starting to get a bit of an appetite, although it’s still pretty finicky. At the moment my favorite things are hot dogs and cherry Icees, preferably simultaneously.

I got my seasonal flu shot last week at my ob appointment. I’ll be getting the H1N1 vaccine once it’s available in shot form. The nasal spray that just got released actually contains live virus samples and is not recommended for us preggos.

The heartbeat recorded at our last appointment was 160. Speculate as you need to over that. Our actual anatomy ultrasound is now officially scheduled for November 13th. Get stoked.

Hot dogs are calling.

Cheers.

15 weeks and a day. Do I look pregnant yet?

Coming along.

Only a few days left until our next checkup; this one should be pretty uneventful. I’m far enough along now that the doctor can use a Doppler (an amplified stethescope of sorts) to hear the heartbeat, so we won’t have another ultrasound until The Big One. Not too much longer, however, until that appointment either (will be scheduled at 19 weeks - first few days of November). Feel free to place your bets on what we’re having.

The last week or so I’ve been trying to decide whether I’m feeling the Bug or other assorted tummy gurglings. I’ve felt plenty of little shivers in my lower abdomen, but nothing distinct enough that I can confidently call it a baby as opposed to things that I might normally feel happening in my stomach.

My appetite at this point picks its moments; most days I still can’t eat much. I’m not sick anymore, though, for the most part at least, so that much is helpful.

Even with the weight I’ve lost (about 8 pounds to date) my belly definitely pokes out more than it used to, although it still just looks like a belly (not a bump) as far as I can tell. I’ll post pictures once that changes.

Cheers.

Here are some pictures of our little gummybear from our second ultasound taken at 10 weeks.
